| At an elevation of 7600 feet above sea level and surrounded by mountains on three sides, the San Luis Valley has the largest concentration of center-pivot irrigation systems in the world. About 40 percent of the country's fresh market commercial potatoes are produced here, and a large proportion of the acreage is planted for seed production.
