Education

LeRoy Salazar founded Agro Engineering in 1982. Mr. Salazar, a professional engineer, developed the irrigation scheduling and irrigation system evaluation and design programs at Agro Engineering. He assists farmer clients in irrigation system design, scheduling and cost-benefit analysis of irrigation design and management. Mr. Salazar is an expert witness for water rights issues and has assisted in numerous cases involving new water rights, changes in water rights and augmentation plans. He has been a guest lecturer on subjects related to water requirements and other irrigation topics.

Mr. Salazar has worked in a number of countries as an irrigation consultant. He has taught a number of irrigation courses, both in the U.S. and abroad. He has provided consulting services for Utah State University, Colorado State University, the U.S. Peace Corps and the U.S. Agency for International Development as well as several water districts and organizations. Previously, he worked in Peru for the Consortium for International Development (CID) on a research project to study crop water requirements and irrigation management techniques. There he developed training and design materials for irrigation extensionists, engineers and farmers.

Mr. Salazar is a farm native of the San Luis Valley.
