| Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Colorado (Civil #37711) Tel: (719) 852-4957 or (719) 480-3423 Education Specialty Areas Mr. Thompson is a project engineer with Agro Engineering with a background in Civil Engineering specializing in water resources, hydraulics, hydrology, water quality modeling, and GIS. Mr. Thompson is experienced in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, and has developed flood inundation models to examine flood risks, develop flood mitigation strategies, and design restoration measures. Related hydraulic/hydrologic computer skills include HEC-RAS, SWMM, hydraulic transients programs, and Haestad Methods applications. During summer months, Mr. Thompson is involved with irrigation system testing and design, and heads the aerial photography program at Agro Engineering. Mr. Thompson leads GIS work at Agro Engineering and is proficient with software such as ESRI ArcView, MapInfo, and IDRISI. He has also worked with satellite image processing and has developed the digital infrared aerial photography system and image processing software for Agro. As a graduate student, Mr. Thompson was responsible for the deployment of instruments in Lake Tahoe and surrounding streams and modeled lake and stream hydrodynamics. Coursework emphasized sediment transport, open channel and closed-conduit hydraulics, lake hydrodynamics, and water quality of natural systems. Prior to this, Mr. Thompson was a water and sanitation engineer in the U.S. Peace Corps in Honduras, where he was responsible for the planning, design, construction and management of rural drinking water system projects and was involved in watershed reforestation and the education of community water boards.
